My love for all things dog started as soon as I could walk.  I was raised in Iowa by my parents who were active in breeding, showing and training AKC German Shepherds.  We spent many weekends at dog shows and nights at our local obedience training center.  I am pretty sure I could name all of the recognized dog breeds before my states and capitals!  I entered the Junior Showmanship program and learned valuable skills about animal husbandry, good sportsmanship, dedication, and patience.  I competed and titled my first obedience dog, Elvis at the age of 11. 

 

​Fast forward several years to college. Living outside of Kansas City, I had an Australian Shepherd that I needed to get groomed. I had no bathing facility at my current duplex, other than my own shower... so began the search for a groomer. The "Big Box" stores left much to be desired. Gwen would shake and tremble with fear and at times refused to get out of the car. That wasn't for us! Next option was the "Do it Yourself Wash" at a local pet store.  She was much less fearful because I was not leaving her for the day, but the tools seemed to be lacking and we would both leave tired and wet! Not giving up the search we found a small, private salon with personalized services. Gwen no longer fought to get out of the car and her appointments only lasted a couple of hours. This was the spot for us! 

 

I began grooming full time in 2012 at a private salon outside of St. Louis.  The Pampered Pet Palace will forever be my grooming home.  Her skills in dog handling, skin and coat conditioning and love for all dogs is second to none!  I have taken my personal experiences searching for groomer, my knowledge from the AKC show world and meshed it with my training in St. Louis to create the best possible combination:  I want dogs to love their grooming time!  I am passionate about making dogs look and feel their best.
